विनेश फोगाट (जन्म 25 अगस्त 1994), एक भारतीय पहलवान हैं। वे हरियाणा के भिवानी ज़िले से आती हैं।[3] एशियाई खेलों में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाली विनेश फोगाट पहली महिला भारतीय पहलवान हैं।[4] वर्ल्ड रेसलिंग चैंपियनशिप में कांस्य पदक जीत कर विनेस टोक्यो ओलंपिक के लिए क्वालिफाइ करने वाली पहली पहलवान बनीं।[5]

भारतीय रेलवे के साथ कार्यरत युवा ग्रैपलर ने 2019 में प्रतिष्ठित लॉरियस वर्ल्ड स्पोर्ट्स अवार्ड्स के लिए नामांकित होने वाली पहली भारतीय बनीं। भारत सरकार ने कुश्ती में उनके उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन के लिए उन्हें अर्जुन पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया है।[6]

व्यक्तिगत जीवन और पृष्ठभूमि

विनेश फोगाट का जन्म हरियाणा के भिवानी ज़िले के बलाली गाँव में पहलवानों के परिवार में हुआ था।[7] उन्होंने अपने चाचा महावीर सिंह फोगाट से प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त किया। महावीर फोगाट प्रतिष्ठित द्रोणाचार्य पुरस्कार विजेता कोच और महिला पहलवानों गीता और बबीता फोगाट के पिता हैं।[8][9][10] विनेश फोगाट के पिता राजपाल की हत्या तब की गई थी, जब वह बहुत छोटी थीं। चाचा महावीर और उसकी मां प्रेमलता को लड़कियों की कुश्ती और उनके शॉर्ट्स पहनने को लेकर समाज के प्रतिरोध को झेलना पड़ा है।

जल्द ही उन्होंने 2014 के राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में स्वर्ण पदक जीत कर अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर अपने आगमन की घोषणा की।  एशियन गेम्स 2018 में पोडियम पर शीर्ष पर रहने के बाद हरियाणा की इस पहलवान ने अपने साथी पहलवान सोमवीर राठी से शादी कर ली।[11]

करियर

फोगाट ने नई दिल्ली में 2013 एशियाई कुश्ती चैंपियनशिप में 52 किलोग्राम भार वर्ग में कांस्य पदक जीता और इसके बाद दक्षिण अफ़्रीका के जोहानसबर्ग में राष्ट्रमंडल कुश्ती चैंपियनशिप में 51 किलो भार वर्ग में रजत पदक हासिल किया।[12][13] 48 किलो भार वर्ग में इस युवा पहलवान ने ग्लासगो के 2014 राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में अपना पहला अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्वर्ण पदक हासिल किया। उसी वर्ष के अंत में इसी डिवीजन में दक्षिण कोरिया के इंचियोन में एशियाई खेलों में उन्हें कांस्य पदक हासिल हुआ।

एशियाई चैंपियनशिप 2015 में फोगाट ने रजत पदक जीतकर पिछले संस्करण के अपने प्रदर्शन को बेहतर किया। राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में अपनी सफलता के साथ, इस महिला पहलवान ने उम्मीदों को इतना बढ़ा दिया कि रियो ओलंपिक में पदक जीतने की उम्मीदवारों में उनका नाम गिना जाने लगा। लेकिन क्वार्टर फ़ाइनल मुक़ाबले में वे चोटिल हो गईं और उन्हें स्ट्रेचर पर बाहर ले जाना पड़ा।
