Images?

Hi! The files I moved are all deleted. Before new files can be moved someone needs to check the files to see if they are actually free. Commons Moves

Hey, you moved some IPL team colors SVGs from hi to commons. These were not originally created at hi. For example: for चित्र:Royal Challengers Bangalore colours 2008.svg, see en:Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2011_July_21#:File:Royal_Challengers_Bangalore_colours_2008.svg and en:Special:Log/upload/Juwe. Although I think the deletion was incorrect(at least it wasn't non-free), I'm not sure.

The same problem could be with some other similar images(including चित्र:Mumbai Indians colours 2008.svg). You might need to do some digging around at en to find the real uploaders and fix the upload log at commons. Regards--सिद्धार्थ घई (वार्ता) 17:26, 9 दिसम्बर 2011 (UTC)

So far I only found these images, but maybe there are more that I've missed. Ok, but aren't there any font limitations for WMF logos? Plus, I've never seen any logo use any script other than the latin script(even for turkish, for example). The WMF claims copyright for the logo. The text itself is not eligible for copyright. I do not think that WMF forbids a local wiki do add non latin letters under a logo. There is also non latin lettes below the Wikipedia logo used on the top left :-) --MGA73 (वार्ता) 21:52, 11 दिसम्बर 2011 (UTC)

मित्र महोदय, आप इस लिन्क पर हिन्दी विकिपीडीया प्रबन्धन अधिकार हेतु मेरा निवेदन पढ सकते हो और अगर मेरी उम्मीवारी सन्तुष्ट हों तो अपनी राय भी व्यक्त कर सकते हो: मैं स्वयं को दो महीने हेतु प्रबन्धक के अस्थायी पद के लिये नामांकित करता हूँ, क्योंकि:

• मैं एक वर्ष से विकिपीडिया का सदस्य हूँ।
• मैंने विकिपीडिया पर तथा हिन्दीनेस्ट जैसे प्रसिद्ध वेबसाईट पर अपना योगदान किया है।

Twinkle XfD

Hi. Here's the thing about twinkle's xfd module. We've almost come up with a standard method for handling the discussions (barring one major point). As soon as that is resolved (and I get time), I'll work on fixing the XfD module. Meanwhile, you should nominate unlicensed images with no license for over 14 days using {{शीह-फ़1}}. Also, you'll find that some of the redirects (in english) in Category:शीघ्र हटाने हेतु साँचे (the category for the csd templates) still work, so you can also manually use those if you can't understand the hindi.

As for the english descriptions, one quick fix would be to copy-paste twinkle as a userscript and then I (or someone else) can tell you the translations and you can simply replace the UI text with brief english to help you with it. For the long run, however, I'm working on a userscript that could possibly solve this problem permanently. (Note: Its still a long way from even a beta phase, so don't expect a solution soon).

Files you are nominating

Hi MGA73,

u r doing gr8 job by pointing out unused images / fair use images and nominating for deletion.

However, it'll be gr8 if u check if the infobox of the pic where it was used earlier (also mentioned in description). One example is चित्र:Ram_Lakhan_VideoCover.jpeg which was used in राम लखन.

I request to plz do this check before nomination (at least the image description, and if possible check the history of the article cited there).

Hi केप्टनविराज! On other wikis we tag files without a license (or source or permission) and then uploader have 7 days (or 14 days) to add a license and then the file can be deleted. The script automatically post a notice on the uploaders talk page and I do not think it makes sense if I see a file without a license, wait 14 days, then tag it and inform the uploader, and 2 minutes later and admin delete it :-) So I thought the plan was that admins deleted it 14 days after I tagged it.

So I would suggest that all new files are monitored daily and if a file is spotted without a license, source or permission, then it is tagged right away. Then admins should of course know that they should not delete the file untill 14 days after the tag was added to the file. But it would perhaps be a good idea to fix the template so it is clear for admins when it is okay to delete the file.

Thank you SM7! The files that have a different name on Commons should also be safe to delete if they are unused. There is however 1 file that is in use: चित्र:Kalakand1.JPG. But the file is the article twice. Under old name and new name. If you delete it another image will show up in the article and I think it would fit nicely in there. I saw that you nominated a file for deletion and after some edits, you reverted that. This file is showing in cc 4.0 but as a source I found that it is taken from facebook. I don't think this can be kept as cc 4.0. We don't have any tool at local level that we can check each picture and it is recommended that cc 4.0 files should be uploaded on commons. I am confused with your answer. You are saying that facebook is good source. But is there any way to check that owner of facebook photo is real photographer? Facebook doesn't have rules like wikimedia. After that you are saying that photo should be deleted. @संजीव कुमार: Ooooops! I'm sorry I mean Facebook is NOT a good source! It is as you say not easy to verify photographer for files uploaded to Facebook.

I did not confirm the license. I was just cleaning up in files with no license and the file had a license. I should have also checked the source :-(

I have helped check many photos here on hi.wiki but I'm taking a break atm. We need Hindi admins to have a look at the deletion requests in श्रेणी:हटाने हेतु चर्चा के लिये नामांकित पृष्ठ and if that does not empty श्रेणी:Non Licensed Images then those files should also be deleted (also the empty sub categories). --MGA73 (वार्ता) 19:18, 7 अगस्त 2020 (UTC)

If we trust that the uploader is the photographer then in most cases there are no problems. But if I take a photograph of a painting then it may be a problem unless the artist that made the painting died long ago. That is when it gets more complicated. The same if we want to use photographs taken by someone else. Either the photographer has to confirm that the photo can be used under a free license or we need to be sure the photographer died long ago. [Wikimedia Foundation elections 2021] Candidates meet with South Asia + ESEAP communities

As you may already know, the 2021 Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees elections are from 4 August 2021 to 17 August 2021. Members of the Wikimedia community have the opportunity to elect four candidates to a three-year term. After a three-week-long Call for Candidates, there are 20 candidates for the 2021 election.

An event for community members to know and interact with the candidates is being organized. During the event, the candidates will briefly introduce themselves and then answer questions from community members. The event details are as follows:

• Date: 31 July 2021 (Saturday)
• Timings: check in your local time

• Bangladesh: 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm
• India & Sri Lanka: 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm
• Nepal: 4:15 pm to 6:45 pm
• Pakistan & Maldives: 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm

WikiConference India 2023: Program submissions and Scholarships form are now open

Thank you for supporting Wiki Conference India 2023. We are humbled by the number of applications we have received and hope to learn more about the work that you all have been doing to take the movement forward. @SM7:! Thank you for your message. I do not think that I will use my bot any more here on Hindi Wikipedia. If I use it it will probably be very few edits (for examle if a file is renamed during transfer to Commons I can change the pages that uses that file so it uses the new name).
