Simple English: This is a photo of a Honeybee hovering over a beautiful Lotus flower. It was clicked by me near a pond at IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research), Mohali, Punjab on our Independence Day. Honeybees can smell the honey of the lotus and they come straight away near the flower. Honeybee buzzes around the flower and then sits upon it to collect the honey. It rubs it legs on the flower to gather pollen. It flies back to its original place, where it came from, and stores its honey and also transfers the pollen, thus helps in pollination.
I was glad to be able to click this photo exactly on 15 August, our Independence Day because Lotus is our National Flower. There could be no other great day to signify its beauty.
