तेलंगाना विधान सभा चुनाव 7 दिसंबर 2018 को तेलंगाना में दूसरी विधानसभा का गठन करने के लिए आयोजित किया जाएगा। मौजूदा तेलंगाना राष्ट्र समिति, भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस, तेलंगाना जन समिती, और तेलुगू देशम पार्टी को चुनाव में मुख्य प्रतियोगी माना जाता है।[3] राज्य में चार विपक्षी दलों, आईएनसी, टीजेएस, टीडीपी और सीपीआई ने चुनाव में सत्तारूढ़ टीआरएस को हराने के उद्देश्य से 'महाकुटुमी' (महागठबंधन/ग्रैंड एलायंस) के गठन की घोषणा की है।

के॰ चंद्रशेखर राव 2018 में शुरुआती चुनाव के लिए गए,[4][5] जब उन्होंने अपनी अवधि पूरी होने से छह महीने पहले इस्तीफा दे दिया।[6]

चुनावी प्रक्रिया में परिवर्तन

भारत के निर्वाचन आयोग ने घोषणा की कि तेलंगाना में विधानसभा चुनावों में सभी 32,574 मतदान केंद्रों में वोटर वैरिफायबल पेपर ऑडिट ट्रेल (वीवीपीएटी) मशीनों का इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा।[7] 12 अक्टूबर 2018 को प्रकाशित अंतिम चुनावी रोल के अनुसार, तेलंगाना में 2.73 करोड़ मतदाता हैं, जो 2014 तेलंगाना विधानसभा चुनावों में 2.82 करोड़ से कम है।[8] मतदाताओं की सूची में लगभग 2,600 ट्रांसजेंडर थे।[9] 119 विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में सभी पार्टियों ने महिला उम्मीदवारों को लगभग 25 सीटें आवंटित कीं।[10]
