अलग-अलग रेटिंग के कुछ प्रथनक

प्रथनक (ट्रान्जिस्टर) एक अर्धचालक युक्ति है जिसे मुख्यतः प्रवर्धक (Amplifier) के रूप में प्रयोग किया जाता है। कुछ लोग इसे बीसवीं शताब्दी की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण खोज मानते हैं। ट्रांजिस्टर दो प्रकार के होते हैं।

प्रथनक का उपयोग अनेक प्रकार से होता है। इसे प्रवर्धक, स्विच, वोल्टेज नियामक (रेगुलेटर), संकेत न्यूनाधिक (सिग्नल माडुलेटर), थरथरानवाला (आसिलेटर) आदि के रूप में काम में लाया जाता है। पहले जो कार्य ट्रायोड से किये जाते थे वे अधिकांशत: अब प्रथनक के द्वारा किये जाते हैं।
