Merging of समाचार and हाल की घटनाएँ

We should try to merge समाचार on main page and हाल की घटनाएँ section. समाचार being current news and हाल की घटनाएँ being section for past weeks. May be like last 4 weeks. You are doing great job for updating current news. We need to keep record of past news. That way we can have easy access to recent news. Displaying Image

Hi Wolf!

I was planning to include an infobox for each district of India. For that I've created a Template:ज्ञानसन्दूक जिला. I've included this template for some of the districts like: त्रिसूर जिला, मधेपुरा जिला. But unlike what happens with city infoboxes (like for Bangalore, बंगलोर) we don't get the locational image of the district displayed.In order to incorporate these images, I manually have to save it from English Wikipedia and then write the image name in the template to make it display (that's what I did for त्रिसूर जिला). It's quite a tedious job. Can I not make my template itself that one can get the image, at most by writing the name of Image, as in English wiki ? images with hindi names

Dear Wolf,

I contribute to Gujarati Wikipedia and I see you contributing to Hindi wikipedia and helping make it better day by day.

When we upload files in Hindi (or other language wikipedia) its better to upload the images with the Hindi name instead of English file names. Wikipedia allows to store the file with unicode name. Advantage is that - google/yahoo/msn etc allow searching images with unicode names. And those results will bring up the correct images from Wikipedia if the image had unicode file name.

This will help to spread Hindi and other languages on Internet. Please inform other wikimates too.

Sorry to barge in, but Wolf had just asked me about these. The problem is the images are scans of copyrighted pictures, thus they aren't eligible to be tagged as licensed under the GFDL. Any picture that wasn't taken by the user that uploaded it or the person that took the picture explicitly gave permission to license it under the GFDL or creative commons isn't properly licensed. I can't read all the Hindi well enough to see if that's the case for any of the images, but from the one's I checked they all looked like scanned images. It's rather hard to get free images, but it's better to have an article with only one or two properly licensed images than several that aren't. Taxman has a valid objection. I would like to brief you on this. I am acquainted with Mahadevi ji's family in Allahabad. These photographs have been scanned by the permission of her inheritor Mr. Brijesh Pandey and are from books and photographs present at Mahadeviji's residence. In those days there were no digital photographs hence all the printed photgraphs can only be uploaded on the web after scanning. Brijesh Pandeyji is very well aware that these photographs are for wikipedia. He has no objection on publication of these photographs. I have emailed him for a written permission. Probably they do not use computer daily. If I receive the written permission within a week then we can publish these photographs with the written permission(with correct tag). If not then we can publish the article without photographs(considered not correctly tagged). Dear Wolf thanks for your prompt response. I faced this problem within middle of writing for an hour or so at Marathi Wiktionary and Hindi wikipedia. I was able write Nepal Bhasha facility during that period but not on hindi wikipedia and marathi wiktionary. Things got automatically restored after one hour for me. I didnt notice any changes in recent change log of Marathi Wiktionary nor in Hindi wikipedia ,I dont know why and how it happened all the way.

English is not as simple as it appears to be become it is a complicated admixture of several European languages, such as- Greek, Latin, French, German, English etc. Thus it possesses approximately ten lack words. India is a developing country. Its population is more than 1000 million . Here we have lack of resources & production, so it has always been a challenge for us to educate all the citizens. Due to over population the competition is getting more complicated and horrible. As a matter of fact our competition is with the western countries where English is spoken in general. Therefore we, Indians being from rural and Hindi background, are quite unable to learn all these words. Though, we in no sphere of life, lag behind the Britishers but our main problem is of foreign language which is imposed not inculcated in our veins. I can claim that the Europeons will certainly face the same problem if Hindi is posed to them. Therefore, due to the increasing world over significance of English language we can't of avoid it. We have to learn it how to speak, how to write and how to make other people understand our feeling. Now the question that arises before us is what should be done to teach English to all the Indians in the simplest possible way? How can it be learnt by all? It seems next to impossible to learn 1000 000 words for every Indian. So I am inclined to create a modified English named after Rajeev Gandhi, which will include about 100 000 words and will also facilitate the Indians to interact with the foreigners in the easiest possible way. Reduction of words requires great consideration and strenuous efforts. We can drop out the undesired words, synonyms, undesired homonyms and homophones. I am determined to create an easily intelligible English, which will include our colloquial terms and the most essential words. As we see newspapers in English language are daily published across the country but very few people are able to read them and translate because the English used in these papers is complicated, vague and completely unintelligible for the common people. This way these newspapers remain beyond the reach of the billons of Indian. I think simple and easy English must be used in writing newspapers and magazines by doing so we will be able to reach the hearts of those people who are responsible to run bear and feed this country, until or unless we teach English to our farmers, laborers and commoners, the vision 2020 of developed India will surely break down. Today we boast of the fastest growing economy of India but the question is that “Is this economy able to provide bread to the needy ones?" No, money is getting accumulated in the bags of very few people who belong to the upper strata of the society and know the cruel ways how to exploit economically, culturally and sociably the innocent and ignorant people of this nation in the so called English fashion. Therefore in order to bring the farthest standing people into the mainstream of development we will have to teach them this Rajeev Gandhi English and students will learn it in play way method. Undoubtedly I can claim it will prove a boon for the general masses of this poor nation. It is a revolutionary step and will become a milestone in the history of human development.
