परवाणू हिमाचल प्रदेश के सोलन जि़ला मे़ चंडीगढ़-शिमला मार्ग पर स्थित है। यह एक औद्योगिक नगर है। इसकी सीमा हरियाणा के पंचकूला ज़िले से मिलती है। परवाणू को हरियाणा के कालका, पिंजोर से मात्र एक नदी ही विभाजित करती है। वास्तविकता में पिंजोर, कालका व परवाणू लगभग मिले-जुले से ही हैं।

आवागमन

परवाणू चंडीगढ़-शिमला मार्ग पर स्थित है। चंडीगढ़ से इसकी दूरी लगभग ३५ किमी, पंचकूला से २० किमी है। कसौली के लिये यहां से एक अलग रास्ता भी है, जिससे बिना धर्मपुर की तरफ जाए कसौली पंहुच सकते हैं।

चंडीगढ़-शिमला विश्व धरोहर रेल मार्ग भी यहां से निकलता है। रेलवे स्टेशन का नाम टकसाल है।

जनसंख्या

२००१ कि जनगणना के अनुसार परवाणू की जनसंख्या 8609 है।. पुरुष - 61%, महिलाएं - 39% । साक्षरता दर - 73%, जो कि राष्ट्रीय औसत 59.5% से अधिक है। : पुरुष साक्षरता दर 74% व महिला साक्षरता दर 71% है। . 12% जनसंख्या 6 वर्ष से कम आयु की है।

पर्यटन

परवाणू मुख्यतः टिम्बर ट्रेल के लिये प्रसिद्ध है जो कि शिमला मार्ग पर है। यहां पर्यटक रज्जु मार्ग (रोप-वे, केबल कार) पर यात्रा का आनंद उठा सकते हैं। शिमला मार्ग पर ही ढल्ली मीट के अचार के लिये प्रसिद्ध है।

विवरण

The town is divided into 6 different sectors spread randomly across the Shivalik Range in a radius of about 4 km. While sectors 1A, 4 and 6 are totally residential the other sectors 1, 2, 3 & 5 are Industrial with only a few residential areas. Parwanoo is essentially an industrial town with almost 80% of the local population engaged with the industries in one way or other. It is home to the largest fruit processing unit of HPMC and the HP Agro Industries have a Cattle Feed Unit and a Pesticide Unit located here. It also has a Large ESI hospital. Prominent hotels are Shivalik View, Windsmoor and Shelly.

To cash in on its proximity to Chandigarh and Panchkula the government set up industrial sectors and gave incentives that invited many small scale units to set up shop here. The incentives include exemption from taxes and financing incentives for expansion of existing projects.
