a caption to the image, e.g. describing where the picture was taken and towards which direction the camera was facing

where the beach is located

the coordinates of the beach

access

which roads, footpaths, railway stations, etc. give access to the beach

beach_length

length of the beach

beach_number

beach number if allocated (e.g. by Surf Life Saving Australia - if so, enter the beach number with a link to the beach's page on the Beachsafe website)

hazard_rating

hazard rating given to the beach (e.g. by Surf Life Saving Australia). Enter the rating out of 10 with description in brackets

patrolled

whether or not the beach is patrolled by lifeguards or similar

patrolled_by

if the beach is patrolled, enter the name of the surf club that patrols the beach

last

previous beach (e.g. according to Surf Life Saving Australia's Beach number system)

Microformat

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit. Precision
