This template is meant to replace image galleries in Wikipedia articles by linking to the corresponding Wikimedia Commons gallery instead. It should be placed at the bottom of the page, typically in the See Also section.

Usage

• {{Commonsimages|related Commons page (optional)|Wikipedia name (optional)}}

Both parameters are optional, and are intended for cases where the Commons page name is different from the Wikipedia page name. The first parameter is the name of the corresponding page on the Wikimedia Commons. If this first parameter is used, then the template will display the Commons page name, which may be confusing to readers. This text can be replaced by the second parameter, where the Wikipedia page name would typically be used.

For example, on the Polar bear page,

{{Commonsimages|Ursus maritimus|Polar bears}}

produces a link to Commons:Ursus maritimus displayed as Polar bears.
