If there isn't one and you wish to create one - you aleways can. But if you think it's not good to have a cat on famous peoples then the only thing I wanted to tell you is that "Manipur Logon" is not grammatically fitting. Please think of some think like what is suggested by me so that it's grammatically correct. I'll inform you if i could come with some name that you'll like.

I have modified the category as much as I can but still there has to be more rectifications. I saw your writing having a special influence of some language(Still don't know which one).May I know you native language? I am interested in learning Indian languages and you might be be able to help me. You have definitely put time on it. I respect your hard workingness. Yes, there are only handful of active editors at hindi wikipedia. Few months back there were even less. Slowly more and more people are joining. It is really pleasent to know your concern. Regarding Spellings

Hi Kingram,

I want to inform you of some of the spelling errors before rectifying them. First of all the page of Kerala in Hindi was Named as केरल but you have renamed it as केरला. You wrote that this is the actual pronunciation. But this is the pronunciation that English speaking public pronounces it as. In Hindi speaking region it is pronounced as केरल only. So I think it should again be renamed as केरल. Although a page of केरला will exist but it will redirect to केरल only. It seems that you are a Native of Kerala so As you know it is called Kerlam in Malayalam, I think Keral (केरल) (and NOT KERALA(केरला)) is the correct parallel in Hindi.

Also the name of तिरुअनन्तपुरम् has been changed to थिरुअनन्तपुरम. According to it's Malayalam pronunciation, it should be തിരുവനന്തപുരം, isn't it? The Malayalam spelling corresponds to तिरुअनन्तपुरम् in Hindi. थिरुअनन्तपुरम is equivalent to ഥിരുവനന്തപുരം in Malayalam which is not correct (Am I wrong?).

Since I learned Malayalam a bit I could tell you this but there are other instances where you have changed the spelling of त to थ. This, I think is inspired by use of Th for a sound of त in South Indian English. This is used just to differentiate the sound of ट from त and not to differentiate त from थ. If it was Tiruanathpuram in English it would have been pronounce as टिरुअनन्तपुरम्. So, I think, again, that it should be renamed back as तिरुअनन्तपुरम्.

I'll redo these changes only if you agree. Waiting for your reply. But I am highly impressed by you editing frequncy. I appreciate that inspite of a Not Very GOOD Hindi you contribute a lot to this wiki. I hope you will be more efficient in you editing after this spelling tips.

First of sorry of very late reply. These last days I asked some of the native Tamils and Telugus(but not Malayalams, although) to know the correct pronunciation of Thiruvananthpuram and Kerala. Your view about Kerala was right that native people call Kerala as Keralaa only. Aalthough in Hindi we call it as Keral, but I thought the native pronunciation should have been there so I left the page of केरला as it as with केरल redirecting to it. But the page of Thiruvanantpuram had a spelling of तिरुअनन्तपुरम् and I made it like that. I have also given a subsection of the article तिरुअनन्तपुरम् clarifying the diffrent pronunciation and spelling of it.

Thanks for your praise, but I personally think I am not able to devout much time for it and in future I shouldn't be an administrator if it continues. Plus being a normal user is not bad. I have nearly all the previledges here and admins are cooperating very very well so I don't think of any need of being an admin.

Abt your comments in User:Murtusa 's page

Its good that you removed the lines. Thanks a lot. That statement could have hurt a lot of people and could have been used as a weapon by the people who wish to divide us. Hindi is surely not doing upto the mark. However, as compared to a year back, Hindi is in better shape now. Besides, if we see the stats other than just the number of articles, we are doing well. Also, I am working on this bot which I hope will increase the number of articles. Plus, we need to implement the devnagari input system which has been used in Nepal Bhasa and Nepali wikipediae. There are many people who are willing to help but dont know how to type in devnagari. The inkey can solve that. Besides, I am working on increasing co-ordination between the South Asian wikipediae so that we dont have to work on all the topics separately. Plus, I am thinking of having a Brahmi bar on all South Asian wikipediae so that we can share the templates easily through Brahmi as the linking script. However, the problem is that very few of the wikipedians are interested in these projects. We can only see Bishnupuri or Bangla doing better and compete with each other. We do not bother that South Asian wikipediae, as a whole are not as good as European wikipediae combined or for that matter even as good as any of the European languages with same number of speakers. --युकेश १८:२६, २४ जनवरी २००७ (UTC)

Hi Kingram, sorry my knowledge of bots is very limited. The bot I use does very simple work such as project tagging and is based on AWB. Ganesh's bot is based on python and I think he is the best person to help you out. He also shared his code with Sundar I think. You could try asking Sundar. Thanks for the information. I did not know about Sundarji, however, I had contacted Ganeshji and he has provided me with his bot script. I am actually a medical student and know very little about programming. So, its taking me a while to getting used to the python language. Plus, I need to translate the names of the cities as well. You have good point about Taiwan and China too. There is not enough information about China and Taiwan on hindi wikipedia. Is there any reference of hindi terms "चीन जनता गणरज्य" (the big china) and "चिन गणरज्य" (taiwan) anywhere? or these are the terms you are suggesting? I think these terms should be "चीन जनवादी गणराज्य" and "चीन गणतंत्र". More link to be considered from english wikipedia are en:Political status of Taiwan and en:Taiwan (disambiguation).

adminship

It is always nice to hear from someone like you (as a long time contributor) that I should be holding the post of an administrator. Truly speaking, I never thought that I should become an administrator. I am a final year student at IIT Kharagpur and was facing academic burden in last few months. After being an admin, it's my moral responsibility to administer the wiki editing and formating. I never wanted to not to do so but I was afraid that I, in future might not be available to devout my time for that. As by June I'll join a job and would have lesser time for wiki editing. Also all the other administrators of this wiki were very friendly and helpful, so I never needed to become an admin.

correct use of ka ke ki

In Hindi and Urdu, the form of the verb changes depending upon the gender of the noun and sometimes with adjective and verb itself. If it (the noun or the adjective, whichever is predominant) is masculine then it is ka (का), when it is feminine then it is kee(की) and when it is neuter or when it is plural of either of these it is ke (के).

for example:

• Seeta's saari is blue (Seeta as well as saari is feminine)- सीता की सारी नीली है ।
• Ram's head is aching (Ram is masculine as well as his head) - राम का सर दुःख रहा है ।
• His dhoti is blue (He is a masculine noun, but dhoti is feminine in Hindi) - उसकी धोती नीली है ।
• Their customs are too old (Plural of he/she is used here) - उनके रीति रिवाज बहुत पुराने हैं ।

It is difficult for a beginner to know which noun(or adjective or verb) is masculine and which one is feminine. If you don't know it, use ka (का, masculine) always, in singular nouns and ke(के) in plural nouns - no matter what are the adjectives and verbs - for ease. It is safer to write ka (का) as this is what some people use when they don't know the gender of the noun(or adjective). अमित प्रभाकर ०५:३४, ११ मार्च २००७ (UTC)

हिन्दी लेखौं के बारे मै

हमारा विकिपीडिया अब जल्द हि १०,००० लेखौं का "थ्रेसहोल्ड" पार कर रहा है। यह द्वार पार करने के बाद हमारे समुदाय बहुत सारे लोगों की नजरौं मे आने लगेगा ( एट लीश्ट इन् विकिपीडिया कम्युनिटी ) । अतः, हमे हमारा रणनीति मै थोडा बदलाव करना पडेगा। अब हमारे सामने दुसरा बडा पडाव २०,००० लेख का है। लेकिन वहाँ पहुँचने से पहले हमे इस विकिपीडिया का गुणस्तर को बढाने मै ध्यान देना होगा क्योंकि अगर हमारे पास कोही अच्छा लेख ना हों तो २०,००० का आंकडा निरर्थक लगेगा। अतः मेरा यह आप से बिन्ती है कि अब आप किसी एक वा कुछ लेख मै ध्यान केन्द्रित करके उन लेखौं का गुणस्तर बढाएं। विशुद्ध रुप से लेखौं के संख्या बढाने के लिए, कुछ समय के लिए, बोट का प्रयोजन हि पर्याप्त हो सकता है ( मेरे पास अभी करीब ५००० लेखौं का निर्माण के क्षमता रखने वाला बोट है जो थोडे मर्मत के बाद प्रयोजन मै लाया जायगा)। अगर आप का विचार इस से भिन्न हों या आप के मस्तिष्क मै कोही दुसरा रणनीति हों तो कृपया चौपाल मै वा मेरे संवाद पृष्ठ मै व्यक्त कीजिए। धन्यवाद।--युकेश १५:४२, १४ मार्च २००७ (UTC)

I think that if the word is a proper noun or an official name of something the name shouldn't be changed; for example New Zealand should be न्यू ज़ीलैंड, as this is the proper Hindi name, West Indies वेस्टइंडीज़, New Orleans न्यू ऑर्लियंस etc.--वुल्फ़^{वार्ता} १४:५२, २९ मार्च २००७ (UTC)

There isn't anywhere (on the internet at least) which uses changes the New/South/East/North/West in Hindi. In other languages it is a completely different matter. Even the government of India use the original title. That would be like calling Göteborg (Gothenburg) in Sweden गॉथेन दुर्ग or योते दुर्ग instead of गॉथेनबर्ग or योतेबोर्य, or Bergedorf in Germany बैर्गे गाँव instead of बैर्गेडॉर्फ़. Thank you for changing the name of Manikkavasagar. His original name is Thiruvaadhavuurar ( तिरुवदवु्रर् ), but he is usually known as माणिक्कवासगर् (MaaNikkavaasagar). The second part of his name is vaasagar which in Hindi could be written with Skt pronunciation as वाचकर् (not Sagar = ocean, but वाचकम्= saying). He is the author of the famous work called तिरुवाचकम् in Tamil pronunced as तिरुवासकम). His name means One who gave ruby-like saying. Tamil zha sound

The closest is ऴ which is a new letter in Hindi /Devangari I think. In Tamil there are three l sounds l, L, zh and I'm not sure whether there is an equivalent in the new Unicode for all three.

Dear kingram, in Hindi there is not any single name as in English which is “Tide” for this phenomenon. We always use as "Jvaar-Bhaata" for Tide (where Jvaar (पानी चढ़ना या बढ़ना) indicate to Tide and Bhata (पानी उतरना या घटना) is indicate to Ebb). I am sorry to butt into your page, Kingram, but I believe that at present, it is unfortunately not possible to implement a system which enables users to type Hindi directly into the search box because a few of our namespaces, such as "MediaWiki:", are not in Hindi. It would also be impossible to go to any of the "विशेष:" or "MediaWiki:" namespace articles, because they are all in English. We need to create a system where there are two check boxes: one to type in Devanagari (default), and one to type in English. We all need to work together to create such a system. I created this template to stop the vandalism on hindi wiki. Many people were posting different articles which were more of advertisement then informative. If we put {{delete}} then the contributor gets an impression that hindi wiki discourages new people and this first impression may refrain him/her from returning on hindi wiki. This template was designed to provide the user information that according to wikipedia policy articles in the form of advertisement are not supported. I hope you understand my motive behind creating this template. Please let me know your reasons for removing this template.
