सिन्दूर

सिन्दूर एक लाल या नारंगी रंग का सौन्दर्य प्रसाधन होता है जिसे भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में महिलाएँ प्रयोग करती हैं। हिन्दू, बौद्ध, जैन और कुछ अन्य समुदायों में विवाहित स्त्रियाँ इसे अपनी माँग में पहनती हैं।[1] इसका प्रयोग बिन्दियों में भी होता है। रसायनिक दृष्टि से सिन्दूर अक्सर पारे या सीसे के रसायनों का बना होता है, इसलिए विषैला होता है और इसके प्रयोग में सावधानी बरतने को और इस पदार्थ को बच्चों से दूर रखने को कहा जाता है।[2]
