पादपों का विकासात्मक इतिहास
पादपों के क्रमिक-विकास ने अनेक जटिलताओं को जन्म दिया है। सबसे प्राचीन शैवाल मैट लेकर, बहुकोशिकीय समुद्री और मीठे पानी के हरी शैवाल, स्थलीय ब्रायोफाइट, लाइकोपॉड और फर्न, से लेकर आज के जटिल जिम्नोस्पर्म और सपुष्पक पादप (फूल वाले पौधे)। [6]
