Festival" as per wikipedia.com means " an event, usually staged by a local community, which centers on some unique aspect of that community." and I thought "flickr" is festive everyday :) we celebrate life through snapshots shared from all around this wonderful planet... glad to be part of it :) This is a snap shot from my trip to Kerala.. Any festival in Kerala means caparisoned elephants.. Lots of music (percussion and wind instruments).. huge crowds and ofcourse the green backgorund :)) Check out this video for a glimpse into how it sounds :) www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMpCTr1NfSo&feature=related Location-Kolazhi, Thrissur, Kerala. These elephants are waiting for the main elephant which gets to carry the "thidambu"- representing the presiding deity of that temple. (See the last pic in comments. I have umpteen shots and was at a loss as to what to post so as to put forth a snap shot of what I saw and chose these. |
