ऐरावतम महादेवन (तमिल: ஐராவதம் மகாதேவன்; 2 अक्टूबर 1930 – 26 नवंबर 2018) एक भारतीय पुरालेखवेत्ता और सिविल सेवक थे, जिन्हें तमिल-ब्राह्मी शिलालेखों की व्याख्या और सिंधु घाटी सभ्यता के पुरालेख पर अपनी विशेषज्ञता के लिए जाना जाता है।[1]
प्रारंभिक जीवन
[संपादित करें]महादेवन का जन्म 2 अक्टूबर 1930 को ब्रिटिश भारत के तंजावूर ज़िले में एक स्मार्त तमिल ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था।[2] उन्होंने अपनी शिक्षा तिरुचिरापल्ली में प्राप्त की तथा रामकृष्ण मिशन विवेकानंद महाविद्यालय से रसायन विज्ञान में और मद्रास विधि महाविद्यालय से विधि में स्नातक किया। महादेवन ने 1953 में आयोजित भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा परीक्षाओं को उत्तीर्ण किया और उन्हें मद्रास काडर को आवंटित किया गया।[2]
