आंततंतु

आंततंतु, जिसे अक्सर कैटगट (catgut) भी कहते हैं, ऐसे प्राकृतिक रेशे होते हैं जो प्राणियों की आँतों में मिलने वाले रेशों से बनते हैं। इन्हें अक्सर भेड़ों व बकरियों की आँतों से बनाया जाता है, हालांकि सूअरों, घोड़ों, गधों व खच्चरों की आँतों का प्रयोग भी पाया जाता है, और यह प्रदूषण भी नहीं फैलता।[1][2]

Catgut sutures are made from the submucosal layer of the small intestine of sheep and the serosal layer of the small intestine of cattle.
