हाल में हुए परिवर्तन

• The wikis now have a content security policy report. This means that you might get a warning in your javascript console when you load external resources in your user scripts. For security reasons it is recommended that you don't do this. It might not be possible to load external resources in your scripts in the future. [1]

हाल में हुए परिवर्तन

• कुछ पुराने मोबाइल ब्राउज़र फिर से इच्छासूची का उपयोग कर सकते हैं। यह थोड़े समय से काम नहीं कर रहा था। इन ब्राउज़रों को ग्रेड सी ब्राउज़र कहा जाता है। उदाहरण के लिए यह विंडोज एक्सप्लोरर वाले विंडोज फोन ८.१ और विंडोज १० वाले लुमिया ५३५ के लिए सहायक है। [7]

समस्याएँ

• आप दो कॉलम दृश्य में संपादन संघर्षों को देखना चुन सकते हैं। यह एक बीटा सुविधा है। आप इसे अपनी वरीयताओं में देख सकते हैं। इस दृश्य का उपयोग करने वाले उपयोगकर्ता जब कोई पूर्वावलोकन देखना चाहते थे तो संपादन संघर्ष समाधान पृष्ठ दिखाई देता था। यह ठीक कर दिया गया है। [8][9][10]

• मीडियाविकि का नया संस्करण परीक्षण विकि और MediaWiki.org पर 13 नवम्बर से होगा। यह गैर-विकिपीडिया विकि और कुछ विकिपीडिया पर 14 नवम्बर से होगा। यह सभी विकियों पर 15 नवम्बर (कैलेंडर) से होगा।

भावी परिवर्तन

• लेखों का अनुवाद करने के लिए आप सामग्री अनुवाद टूल का उपयोग कर सकते हैं। डेवलपर एक नये संस्करण पर काम कर रहे हैं। परिवर्तनों में से एक रखरखाव श्रेणी होगी। लेख जहाँ उपयोगकर्ता बिना किसी बदलाव के मशीन अनुवाद से बहुत अधिक पाठ जोड़ते हैं, उस श्रेणी में होंगे। ऐसा इसलिए है ताकि समुदाय उसकी समीक्षा कर सके। उपयोगकर्ताओं को इस आलेख को प्रकाशित करने से पहले चेतावनी दी जाएगी कि इसमें मशीन अनुवादों से बहुत अपरिवर्तित पाठ है। [11]

• Here are some recent updates and clarification of rules for you, and as always, let me know if you have any idea, thought or question.
  • Additional souvenirs (e.g. postcard) will be sent to Ambassadors and active organizers.
  • A participant's article count is combined on all language Wikipedias they have contributed to
  • Only Wikipedia Asian Month on Wikipedia or Wikivoyage projects count (no WikiQuote, etc.)
  • The global top 3 article count will only be eligible on Wikipedias where the WAM article requirement is at least 3,000 bytes and 300 words.
  • If your community accepts an extension for articles, you should set up a page and allow participants to submit their contributions there.
  • In case of redirection not allowed submitting in Fountain tool, a workaround is to delete it, copy and submit again. Or a submission page can be used too.
  • Please make sure enforce the rules, such as proper references, notability, and length.
  • International organizers will double check the top 3 users' accepted articles, so if your articles are not fulfilling the rules, they might be disqualified. We don't want it happened so please don't let us make such a decision.

जब भी मैं कोई लेख लिखता हूं तो कई बार ऐसा हो जाता है कि विदेशी भाषा में अगर कोई शब्द हिंदी में लिखा जाए तो उसका उच्चारण हिंदी में काफी भयानक तरीके से होता है उदाहरण के तौर पर अगर मैं ibbaru(इंडोनेशिया की एक भाषा है) अगर हम इसको हिंदी में लिखे तो इसका अर्थ बहुत ही भयानक तरीके से आता है जो कि हिंदी में पढ़ पाना एक बहुत अजीब सी बात बन जाता है| मेरी पूरी कोशिश होती है कि मैं इन्हीं शब्दों को बहुत ही सरल तरीके से हिंदी भाषा में इस्तेमाल करूं| अभी पिछले एक-दो दिन से मैं एशिया के ऊपर संस्कृति और भाषाओं जो विभिन्न देशों के ऊपर लेख लिखे हैं लेकिन इन लेखों में कई ऐसे विदेशी शब्द है जिनका हिंदी में उच्चारण काफी अलग तरीके से हुआ है लेकिन फिर भी मैंने इनको काफी सरल तरीके से इस्तेमाल किया है| मैंने अपनी तरफ से पूरी कोशिश की है अगर आपको कोई लेख में गलती लगे तो आप मुझे बता देना |धन्यवाद(Mr.Mani Raj Paul (वार्ता) 16:16, 21 नवम्बर 2018 (UTC))

• On wikis with translatable pages you could create a mess when you moved a page that had translatable subpages. A subpage is when you use / to create a new page: /wiki/Page/Subpage. The subpages would be moved but not the translations. The subpages are no longer automatically be moved. This is to make it safer to move pages. [15]

• The advanced search interface will be available by default on all Wikimedia wikis. It makes it easier to use some of the special search functions that most editors don't know exist. It's already active on German, Farsi, Arabic and Hungarian Wikipedia. [16]
• Special:UnusedCategories show empty categories with no files or other categories. You can soon choose to not show soft redirect categories or some maintenance categories there. You can do this with the magic word __EXPECTUNUSEDCATEGORY__. [17]
• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 27 नवम्बर. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 28 नवम्बर. It will be on all wikis from 29 नवम्बर (calendar).

If you faced problem submitting articles via judging tool, use this meta page to do so. Please spread this message with local participants.

Here are what will come after the end of WAM

• Make sure you judge all articles before December 7th, and participants who can improve their contribution (not submit) before December 10th.
• Participates still can submit their contribution of November before December 5th at this page. Please let your local wiki participates know. Once you finish the judging, please update this page after December 7th
• There will be three round of address collection scheduled: December 15th, December 20th, and December 25th.
• Please report the local Wikipedia Asian Ambassador (who has most accepted articles) on this page, if the 2nd participants have more than 30 accepted articles, you will have two ambassadors.
• There will be a progress page for the postcards.

• नए खातों के लिए अब कम से कम ८ वर्ण लंबे कूटशब्द की आवश्यकता होगी। प्रबंधक, इंटरफ़ेस प्रबंधक, प्रशासक, पर्यवेक्षकों, सेंट्रल नोटिस प्रबंधक, वैश्विक नामकरण, उपयोगकर्ता की जांच करने वाले, प्रबंधक और कुछ अन्य उपयोगकर्ता समूहों कम से कम 10 वर्ण लंबे कूटशब्द की आवश्यकता होगी। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि यदि हमलावर इन खातों को लेते हैं तो वो विकि को नुकसान पहुंचा सकता है। [24][25]

• Because of the holidays the next issue of Tech News will be sent out on 7 January 2019.

हाल में हुए परिवर्तन

• Some templates that show notices about the content of the page will now be shown on the mobile website. In many cases they were hidden before. [27][28]
• Admins can no longer unblock themselves, except for self-blocks. A blocked admin can block the user who blocked them but no one else. This is so no one can block all admins on a wiki without being stopped. [29]
• The ParserMigration extension has been removed. It compared the result of two versions of the MediaWiki wikitext parsing pipeline. It was used when we moved to the Remex parsing library instead of Tidy.

• <ref> tags can use parameters such as "name" or "group". For example <ref name="adams" group="books">. If a <ref> tag has more than two parameters all parameters are ignored. You don't get a warning that they don't work. This will soon be fixed. [30]

• The Wikimedia Foundation Android app team are working on making it easier to edit on mobile phones. You can read more about these plans. If you have an Android phone and speak at least two languages you can help testing in English. Tell Dchen (WMF) you want to be part of the testing by writing on her talk page or email her.
• tiles.wmflabs.org and wma.wmflabs.org will stop working. They have no maintainers and run an old operating system. Tools which use it could stop working. This includes the mapnik gadget, hill shading, and hike and bike layers. New maintainers could help out and keep it going. [31]

Invitation to Organize Wiki Loves Love 2019

Wiki Loves Love (WLL) is an International photography competition of Wikimedia Commons to subject love testimonials happening in the month of February 2019.

The primary goal of the competition is to document love testimonials through human cultural diversity such as monuments, ceremonies, snapshot of tender gesture, and miscellaneous objects used as symbol of love; to illustrate articles in the worldwide free encyclopedia Wikipedia, and other Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) projects. February is around the corner and Wiki Loves Love team invites you to organize and promote WLL19 in your country and join hands with us to celebrate love and document it on Wikimedia Commons. The theme of 2019 is Festivals, ceremonies and celebrations of love.

To organize Wiki Loves Love in your region, sign up at WLL Organizers page. You can also simply support and spread love by helping us translate the commons page in your local language which is open for translation.

The contest starts runs from 1-28 February 2019. Independent from if there is a local contest organised in your country, you can help by making the photo contest Wiki Loves Love more accessible and available to more people in the world by translating the upload wizard, templates and pages to your local language. • codesearch.wmflabs.org has been updated, with new and updated repositories and a new search options for code. [34]
• On several wikis, an account named "Abuse filter" has been created on December 17 to perform some technical maintenance on AbuseFilter. This account has sysop rights but it's a system user and no human can use it. The account already existed on wikis where AbuseFilter can perform blocks, which are issued using this account. See T212268 for more information and future plans.

Tech News

• Some people did not get last week's issue of Tech News. This was because of a problem with MassMessage. If you did not get last week's issue, you can read it on Meta. [44]

Recent changes

• The content translation tool can now use version 2 as the default version for users who turned on the beta feature. For example it adds the tracking category Pages with unreviewed translations to translations that might have used machine translations without fixing the problems. This is so others can find them. You can find this category in Special:TrackingCategories on Wikipedias.
• https://mediawiki2latex-large.wmflabs.org can now convert collects of up to 800 pages to PDF, EPUB or ODT. Previously this was 200 pages.

Problems

• When a template was edited with the visual editor, it would sometimes put all information on one line. This makes it difficult to read for editors who use the wikitext editor. It also makes it more difficult to see what happened in a diff. This problem affected edits made between 8 and 17 January and is now fixed. [45]
• MassMessage is used to post a message to many pages. It has not been working reliably. Some messages have not been posted to everyone. [46][47]
• Because of a database problem that had to be fixed immediately you could not edit most wikis for a couple of minutes on 17 January (UTC). This has now been fixed. [48]

Changes later this week

• You will be able to use template styles in the Module namespace. [49]
• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 22 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 23 January. It will be on all wikis from 24 January (calendar).

नमस्कार अंसारी जी, आपके हाल ही में मैंने कई शीह नामांकन देखे। हालाँकि आपके ये नामांकन सही रहे हैं मगर मैं आपको बताना चाहूँगा कि आपके बहुत शीह नामांकन ऐसे हैं जिनका लेख बनाया जा सकता है/था। मैं आपको इसी महीने का उदाहरण देना चाहूँगा:

• रकसगंडा प्रपात: यह छतीसगढ़ का एक प्रपात है।
• ग्रीटिंग कार्ड: यह लेख भी अंग्रेजी विकि से देखकर विस्तृत किया जा सकता था।
• मानव बम: इसे मैंने आत्मघाती हमला पर पुनर्निर्देशित किया।

• विकास सेठी: ये भी उल्लेखनीय थे।

Talk to us about talking

The Wikimedia Foundation is planning a global consultation about communication. The goal is to bring Wikimedians and wiki-minded people together to improve tools for communication.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis, whatever their experience, their skills or their devices.

We are looking for input from as many different parts of the Wikimedia community as possible. It will come from multiple projects, in multiple languages, and with multiple perspectives.

We are currently planning the consultation. We need your help.

We need volunteers to help talk to their communities or user groups.

You can help by hosting a discussion at your wiki. Here's what to do:

1. First, sign up your group here.
2. Next, create a page (or a section on a Village pump, or an e-mail thread – whatever is natural for your group) to collect information from other people in your group. This is not a vote or decision-making discussion: we are just collecting feedback.
3. Then ask people what they think about communication processes. We want to hear stories and other information about how people communicate with each other on and off wiki. Please consider asking these five questions:
   1. When you want to discuss a topic with your community, what tools work for you, and what problems block you?
   2. What about talk pages works for newcomers, and what blocks them?
   3. What do others struggle with in your community about talk pages?
   4. What do you wish you could do on talk pages, but can't due to the technical limitations?
   5. What are the important aspects of a "wiki discussion"?
4. Finally, please go to Talk pages consultation 2019 on Mediawiki.org and report what you learned from your group. Please include links if the discussion is available to the public.

You can also help build the list of the many different ways people talk to each other.

Not all groups active on wikis or around wikis use the same way to discuss things: it can happen on wiki, on social networks, through external tools... Tell us how your group communicates.

Talk pages consultation - it is time to close the Phase 1!

You have volunteered to be a coordinator for the Talk pages consultation 2019. Thank you again!

Community summaries are due by Saturday, April 6, 2019. It is now time to close the conversations. We really thank everyone who has participated. Every opinion matters.

What is a community summary?

The goal of a community summary is to wrap up the discussions and provide a summary of what your participants said. That way, other communities can learn about your community's needs, concerns, and ideas. We have seen very different feedback on different wikis, and it is time to discover what everyone thinks!

Please include in that summary:

• every perspective or idea your community had, and
• how frequent each idea was; for example,
  • how many users shared a given opinion
  • whether an idea was more common among different types of contributors (newcomers, beginners, experienced editors...)

You can add as much detail as you want in that summary.

Please post it on the page for community summaries, using the most international English you have.

Can't the Wikimedia Foundation read all the feedback?

We are trying, but we really need your help. For most conversations, we have to use machine translation, which has limitations. This can help us find the most common needs or global ideas. Machine translation is useful, but it does not tell us how people are feeling or what makes your community unique.

Your community summary should be built from your community's perspective, experience and culture. You might also know of relevant discussions in other places, which we did not find (for example, perhaps someone left a note on your user talk page – it is okay to include that!). Your summary is extremely important to us.

What are the next steps?

Phase 2 will happen in April. We will analyze the individual feedback, your community summary, and some user testing. We hope to have a clear view of everyone's ideas and needs at the end of April.

Some ideas generated during phase 1 may be mutually exclusive. Some ideas might work better for some purposes or some kinds of users. During Phase 2, we'll all talk about which problems are more urgent, which projects are most closely aligned with the overall needs and goals of the movement, and which ideas we should focus on first.

Discussions about these ideas may be shaped and be moderated by the Wikimedia Foundation, guided by our decision criteria, listed on the project page.

How can I help now?

• Please provide the summary. :)
• While we study the feedback, we may ask you for more information.
• We will need your help for Phase 2 as well, probably to translate or publicize some future materials we may have.

• More wikis are now testing visual editor section editing for mobile users. You can read more.
• Admins on French and Polish Wikipedia can block someone from editing a page or a namespace. If your wiki wants to get these blocks before they are available to all wikis, you can tell the developers. [69][70]

• You will be able read but not edit most wikis for 30 minutes on 11 April at 05:00 (UTC). This is because of a hardware problem. You can see a list of the affected wikis. [71]
• A map update caused some problems on 29 March and 30 March. It was rolled back. [72]
• Pages on some Wikivoyages had problems with the top headline. This has been fixed. [73]

• When you add an edit summary the VisualEditor will search your recent edit summaries in case you want to re-use one. This works in both the visual and wikitext modes on desktop. It also works on the mobile site. [74]
• The Wikimedia wikis will get a URL shortener. This will work from 11 April. You can read more. [75]
• The {{REVISIONID}} magic word will no longer work. This is for performance reasons. When you preview a page it will return "" (empty string). When you read a page it will return "-" (dash). For now this will only affect content namespaces. [76]

• You will be able to preview references. This means that when you hover over the link you will get a popup that shows you a preview of the reference. It will work much like page previews. This is so you don't have to go to the bottom of the page to see a reference. This will now be available as a beta feature on German and Arabic Wikipedia. [77][78]
• The Wikidata JSON output will change. Empty containers will be serialised as empty objects. This is a breaking change that will affect tools that use JSON outputs and APIs. It will happen on 30 April. You can read more and see how to test your code.

• The Wikipedia app for Android now invites users to add Wikidata descriptions to Wikidata objects that have Wikipedia articles but no Wikidata descriptions. It will only invite users who have added a number of Wikidata descriptions in the app without being reverted. This is to avoid spam and bad edits. [87][88]

• Tech News was late last week because of a MassMessage bug. Other newsletters had the same problem. [89]

• When you write a comment in Structured Discussions but have not posted it yet your web browser will save it in local storage instead of session storage. This means you do not lose them even if you close your web browser. Structured Discussions used to be called Flow. [91]
• You will be able to turn off milestone notifications. Milestone notifications congratulate you when you have made certain numbers of edits. [92]
• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 30 अप्रैल. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 1 मई. It will be on all wikis from 2 मई (calendar).
