किताब-अल-जबर-वल-मुक़ाबला (अरबी: الكتاب المختصر في حساب الجبر والمقابلة‎, Al-kitāb al-mukhtaṣar fī ḥisāb al-ğabr wa’l-muqābala;[1] लातिन: Liber Algebræ et Almucabola) एक गणित ग्रन्थ है जिसकी रचना फारस के गणितज्ञ मुहम्मद इब्न मूसा अल-ख़्वारिज़्मी ने ८२० ई के आसपास किया था जब वह बगदाद में थे। तब बगदाद, अब्बासी ख़िलाफ़त की राजधानी था। इस ग्रन्थ के नाम का अर्थ है, 'पूर्ण करने तथा संतुलित करने के गणना का सार ग्रन्थ'। ११४५ में चेस्तर के रॉबर्ट ने इसका लैटिन में अनुवाद किया। यह पुस्तक यूरोपीय विश्वविद्यालयों में १६वीं शताब्दी तक गणित की मुख्य पाठ्यपुस्तक के रूप में प्रयुक्त होती रही। [2][3][4][5] इस ग्रन्थ के कारण ही यूरोपीय भाषाओं में 'अल्जेब्रा' (algebra) शब्द आया जो (الجبر, al-jabr) से निकला है। इस ग्रन्थ में दो घात तक धनात्मक मूल वाले बहुपद समीकरण हल करने के बहुत से प्रश्नों की चर्चा है। [6]
