फर्डिनेण्ड वॉन रिचथोफेन (१८३३ - १९०५ ई.) एक प्रमुख भूगोलवेत्ता था। उसका जन्म पश्चिमी जर्मनी के साइलेसिया क्षेत्र में मई ५, १८३३ को हुवा। वह शाही परिवार के सदस्यों में से था। वह जर्मन भाषा के अतिरिक्त इंग्लिश एवं फ्रेंच का भी ज्ञाता था। उसने ब्रुसेल्स एंव बर्लिन में भूविज्ञान, जीव विज्ञान एंव भूगोल की उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त की। एसा कहा जाता है कि रिचथोफन भू-विज्ञानिक की भांती चीन गया और वहां से १८७२ मे माना हुवा भूगोलवेत्ता बनकर लौटा।
