This template is a version of {{unicode}} that favours fonts which support the full Latin Extended-B range. This solves problems with Old/Middle English and a few other European scripts.
MediaWiki:Common.css has a "latinx" class which at present selects
font-family: Code2000, Code2001, "TITUS Cyberbit Basic", "Microsoft Sans Serif";
This template is only necessary to account for rendering problems in widespread web browsers. It does not perform any useful semantic markup. In asmuch as these problems disappear in widespread installations, it should be deprecated and {{lang}} should be used instead, in order to provide meta-information of the string's language. Compare: ȝogh (lang) vs. ȝogh (latinx). For romanizations of non-Latin scripts, use {{transl}}.
