आयोटा कराइनी, जिसका बायर नामांकन भी यही नाम (ι Car या ι Carinae) है, कराइना तारामंडल का एक तारा है। इसका पृथ्वी से देखा गया औसत सापेक्ष कांतिमान (यानि चमक का मैग्निट्यूड) २.२५ है और यह पृथ्वी से ६९० प्रकाश-वर्ष की दूरी पर स्थित है। यह पृथ्वी से दिखने वाले तारों में से ६८वाँ सब से रोशन तारा भी है।
अन्य भाषाओं में[संपादित करें]
आयोटा कराइनी को "ऐस्पिडिस्की" (Aspidiske) और "स्क्यूटुलम" (Scutulum) भी कहा जाता है। यह दोनों लातिनी भाषा के शब्द हैं और इन दोनों का अर्थ "(छोटी) ढाल" है। इसे कभी-कभी "ट्यूरेज़" (Turais) भी कहते हैं, जो अरबी शब्द "तूराइस" (تُرَيْس, अर्थ: छोटी ढाल) से लिया गया है।
वर्णन[संपादित करें]
आयोटा कराइनी एक A8 Ib या F0 श्रेणी का पीला-सफ़ेद महादानव तारा है।[9] यह एक परिवर्ती तारा है जिसकी चमक कुछ हद तक कम-ज़्यादा होती रहती है।[10]
